No matter how great you’ve been in the past, you’re only as good as your last performance.  It only takes one bad night to end someone’s dream on American Idol.

Wednesday night, the three guys performed a trio of “I Can’t Help Myself”.  Unfortunately, it was not up to par.  It was one of the season’s worst performances, according to the judges.  In a season where the girls are way more impressive than the men, the guys could not afford to have a bad performance.

But, after all, the voting is left up to America.  On Thursday night, the four remaining women were declared safe.  It was the  guys who were sent to the bottom three.  Out of Lazaro Arbos, Devin Velez, and Burnell Taylor, Taylor was the first to find out he was safe.  Then, Ryan Seacrest quickly revealed that Velez received the least number of votes.

Begging for the judge’s one save, he sang a rendition of “Impossible” by Perry Como.  The audience loved him, chanting “Save! Save! Save!” But the judges did not decide to keep him on the show.

The remaining guys have a lot of work to do. I’m predicting and all-girl Top 5!

Another singer has been voted off for good on American Idol.  During last night’s results show, the finalist were narrowed down to the top 8 after America voted.

This week was Beatles week.  Based on Wednesday night’s performances, Lazaro Arbos appeared to be the weakest link.  His version of “My Life” was criticized by the judges and show mentor, Jimmy Iovine.  For whatever reason, the audience spared him enough votes to even keep him out of the bottom three.

After Paul Jolley was informed that a town in Tennessee had named a day after him, he got word that he was in the bottom three.  He was later joined by Devin Velez and Amber Holcomb.  Unfortunately for Jolley, America liked Holcomb and Velez a little more.  Jolley was given the chance to sing for the judges’ once-a-season save, but he was sent packing.
